Aluminium Solar Shading
Aluminium solar shading can help reduce overall life costs of a building and can be specified as part of the initial building and facade design or as a retro-fit option. It consists of a bladed or 'louvred' canopy that is optimally positioned to prevent direct overhead (summer) sunlight from entering a window or glazed area whilst allowing ambient light and useful winter sunlight to enter, offsetting some of the requirements for heating.
Blades are available in a number of sizes, typically domestic dwellings use the smaller blades, whereas larger commercial applications tend to use wider blades. Some custom designs use a combination of blade widths within a system. Usually the system has a powder coat finish, with a wide variety of colours to match other aluminium components such as window frames or flashings.
